The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced the Class 1A and 2A District and Substate pairings. In Class 1A Holy Trinity Catholic will play at Danville on July 7th at 7 p.m. The winner plays Lone Tree at Danville on July 10th. Other July 10th games has West Burlington playing Notre Dame at Danville at 5p.m. New London plays Lisbon at Highland at 5 p.m. and IMS plays at Highland against the Huskies at 7 p.m. District semi finals will be July 12th and the Finals will be July 14th at Washington, substate will be played at a site to be determined July 17th.
Class 2A District play begins July 7th with L&M playing WMU/WACO at Wapello at 5 p.m. Central Lee plays Columbus Community in the 7 p.m. there that night. The 5 p.m. winner advances on to play Mediapolis on July 10th at 5 p.m. The 7 p.m. winner advances onto play the host school Wapello at 7 p.m. July 10th. Those winners go onto the District Championship game at Wapello 7 p.m. on July 14th. The Substate is July 17th at Mt. Pleasant, game time is 7 p.m.
3A and 4A tournament pairings will be announced next week.

AREA BASEBALL TONIGHT: The Mt. Pleasant Panthers coming off two wins in the Waterloo Bucs Tournament Saturday, travel to North Scott to play a double header tonight, before going to Washington for two games tomorrow night, KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the first game live beginning Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
Keokuk plays at West Burlington, Danville at Washington and Mediapolis goes to New London.

AREA SOFTBALL SCORES: Wapello 7 WMU 3, New London 18 Harmony 0, Danville 20 Holy Trinity Catholic 1, L&M 2 IMS 1,West Burlington-Notre Dame 6 Van Buren 5, Highland 12 Columbus 2, Mediapolis 17 Lone Tree 5, Ft. Madison split with Centerville Bloodhounds won the opener 13-10 but dropped the nightcap 7-0.
AREA SOFTBALL TONIGHT: The MPHS softball team will be traveling to Ft. Madison tonight to make up a Southeast Conference double header rained out earlier in the season. Panthers won 2 out of 3 games in their tournament they hosted Saturday defeating Columbus Community and New London and fell to West Burlington-Notre Dame the #2 ranked team in class 3A. Panthers travel to Washington for two games tomorrow night.
The JV softball games vs. Ft. Madison schedules for today June 27th, have been postponed to Tuesday, July 3rd, at Mt.
Pleasant at 5:30 p.m.
Highland plays at Mediapolis, Keokuk is at Danville and New London travels to Pekin.

The annual Iowa Wesleyan Football Alumni and Friends golf tournament is being held at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club this Saturday, along with the golf there is a reverse raffle that costs only $50 to enter and offers you the opportunity to win $5,000. The Morning Sun Youth League sponsored Firecracker 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held this Sunday, July 1.
The run will start at the Morning Sun Community Center located at 106 N. Main.
There will be a 5K run/walk; a mile run for kids 8-12 and a 1/2 mile run/walk for 7 yrs. and under. Registration will start at 7:00 a.m with the races to start at 8:00 a.m.
Registration fee is $20 after June 15th.
Medals will be awarded for the top 2 times in Male/Female categories.

Following a rainout of events on June 16, Mother Nature decided to let loose again on 34 Raceway during heat race action last Saturday, June 23 allowing 9 of the 14 heat races to be completed.
So this week (June 30) at 34 Raceway we will try again for the Mike?s Auto Parts and Roberts Tire Center Night $5 Fan Appreciation Night at the races.
Those of you who purchased pit passes and/or grandstand passes will be able to use them this week! (Pit passes can be used anytime between now and the end of the season. GRANDSTAND passes MUST be used this week because of the FREE admission and $5 ticket. Any new fans attending will be rewarded with yet ANOTHER $5 FAN APPRECIATION GRANDSTAND ADMISSION NIGHT!
The program will include IMCA late models, 305 sprints, IMCA stock
cars, modifieds, 4 cylinders and sport mods. Hobby stocks will not be running this week but instead will be racing on July 3 along with the Sprint Invaders, 4 cylinders and mod lites.

The Mt. Pleasant Park and Rec Department has several programs to sign up for. A sports camp will be held July 2nd thru the 6th, 9:30-10:30 a.m. for K-2. Grades 3 thru 5 have camp 11-12. It will be held at the East Lake Soccer complex, team building in a variety of sports will be taught, cost is $20 for residents and $25 for non residents.
Youth soccer camp will be held July 23rd thru 27th for grades 1st thru 8th. Camp runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and costs $20 for residents and $25 for non residents.
Little Artist camp will be July 19th thru August 9th on Thursdays from 9-9:45 a.m. for ages 3-5 and 10-10:45 a.m. for ages 6-10. Camp will be held at the Civic Center Meeting room.
