Women who believed they were taking responsible steps to protect themselves from unintended pregnancies have suffered life-changing experiences because they unknowingly took birth control pills that were incorrectly packaged.

Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) April 04, 2012

Attorneys at Massachusetts personal injury law firm of Thornton Naumes, LLP have formed a team in their Drugs and Medical Devices group to investigate claims on behalf of U.S. women who became pregnant while taking contraceptives that pharmaceutical maker Pfizer, Inc., said in a recall notice were improperly packaged, leaving some patients without birth control protection, says group leader and firm partner Marilyn T. McGoldrick.

?Women who believed they were taking responsible steps to protect themselves from unintended pregnancies have suffered life-changing experiences because they unknowingly took birth control pills that were incorrectly packaged,? said Marilyn McGoldrick.

?Our team is looking into to the best ways to protect these women?s rights and get them the compensation they need to deal with the consequences,? she explained.

According to the Pfizer, Inc. January 2012 recall notice, the company recalled 28 lots, or approximately one million packages, of birth control pills: 14 lots of the name brand Lo/Ovral(R)-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) tablets and 14 lots of the generic Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets. The pills are usually packaged in a sequence of 21 pills with the active ingredient and seven inert pills for a 28-day cycle. In the defective packages, pills were out of sequence or the wrong numbers of inert pills were included, leaving women unprotected from unplanned pregnancy on several days each month. The pills were sold under the Akrimax Pharmaceuticals brand.
